TOURS/RIDES
For our first season we will offer four different adventures for our customers. Tours will be limited to weekends unless other arrangements are made. Rides, special events and moonlight tours will also be options so please check our website for schedule updates.

RIDES
Will be short mile runs where participants ride with YSDSA staff... Four, six and eight dog teams will be utilized. Rides will be offered during specific times and locations and will pre-advertised and open to the general public. Different venues will be offered such as dogsled rides at The Iditarod Restart in Willow, AK. in March.

KENNEL TOUR

Everyone’s favorite! Come meet the huskies of YSK, learn about the sport of dog sledding, and pick your favorite husky/ies. Bring your camera, we supply the dog treats and be prepared for lots of hugs and kisses.

INTRO TOUR
Includes approximately 6-8 miles of trail ride where participants ride with YSDSA staff. Dog team size will depend on participant numbers. Locations will vary according to weather and trail conditions but Westgate Trail System will be utilized for the scenic beauty of nature in winter.
Reservations are required.

 

LAKE TOUR
Starting mid-December, approximately 8-10 trail ride where participants ride with YSDSA staff. Number of dogs will depend on participant numbers. The trail/trails run through spruce forests, cross multiple lakes offering spectacular views of Alaskan mountain ranges.

ADVENTURE TOUR
Limited Tour, starting mid January, offering participants 15 years and older the opportunity to harness dogs, hook dogs to sled and drive their own dog team, approximately 4 hours. The, trail ride will range from 6-8 miles with a break halfway along the trail for a warm snack, photo opportunity and dog loving time. The participants will then switch drivers and we will complete the trail ride calling it a day.

* This activity requires additional physical activity and participants are required to complete a health form prior to participation.

REQUIREMENTS
All participants are required to sign a waiver of assumed risks and health statement for specified tours. A “Liability waiver & Damage Release” form must be signed by all adults (age 18 years and older) and a parent/guardian must sign for participants under 18 years of age. This is a ride at your own risk activity: our dogs are very friendly and well trained, but this is an adventure sport where anything can happen. The risk of other wildlife, stray dogs is always possible which may surprise the dog teams or participants.

Helmets must be worn by all participants 15 years and under. (Personal helmets may be used but must be winter sport approved and must be evaluated and accepted by the YSDSA staff prior to participation. Helmets are optional for other participants.

Children under the age of 15 must have a parent/guardian present at all times. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian’s signature prior to participation. Children over the age of three are welcome to ride with an adult, unfortunately children under three are excluded from rides and tours.

LIMITATIONS
Sled weight will be limited to 250 pounds per sled, either individual or combined weight up to two or three individuals. Exceptions may be granted but must be approved by the owner prior to booking.
