IN MEMORY OF…

As with all life, there is a beginning and an end. In between there is a place for memories, friendship, and living life to the fullest. I have shared a lot with the huskies of YSK; they have touched my heart and soul in ways I can never explain.
They have taught me life lessons, watched me make mistakes, but have always been there for me. The thought of saying goodbye devastates me and leaves a vacancy that will always burn is my soul. Despite the pain, I will always be grateful for their presence in my life and will cherish the trails we shared forever.

NEWTO
Ode to an Inuit….
He came from a place where dogs were often lived in the mud, fed rancid meat, and were left alone. He was a blessing to YSK, touching and winning the hearts of everyone both near and far. Despite his size, he was like a fuzzy teddy bear and known for his furry red coat. He loved
to talk, ask for fresh water, and bragged about new straw. His howl was a
chorus on the ridge top and has left emptiness in the evening song. But
most of all, he loved his harness, knowing it meant time to run, which was
truly his heart and soul. His Iditarod trot helped win my first race and it
travels with us on the trails we run. |

ROCKY
A very hard working sled dog, with a great personality and was sibling
to Reese and Skippy. He passed away due to bloat which often causes the
stomach to twist. A common health concern that happens in Northern breed
dogs. The only cure is immediate surgery and we were unable to get him
to a Veterinary Hospital in time. He was irreplaceable member of the YS kennel. He is loved and will be truly missed.

DAKOTA
A young dog that was diagnosed with late stage glycomia and there was nothing we could do to provide comfort. He has joined the other YSKhuskies and is running happy and free.
|
EILU
The son of Bambi and Beaudi, Eilu was the outspoken screamer of our kennel. He was notorious for eating things a dog shouldn’t and we could not get him help in time. His distinct howl somehow fit into the chorus and it is trulymissed at every song.

BAMBI
A great lead dog trainer as she aged she became unable to run and move comfortably. She is one of our famous YS huskies featured in many photo ops. She is truly missed and now runs lead with Beaudi and Eilu in team.
|
BEAUDI
Father to Eilu, he ran team or wheel in the YS line-up. He begged to run every hook up but at age 13 his mind could not over come his physical ability. He and Bambi travel together and are now enjoying their freedom to run.
